«Exploitation of plants of the Greek flora for the production of food products with ealth-promoting properties»
Proposal Summary in English
The Taste-Detox program is a collaboration between two companies (Pharmagnose, JOTIS) that are strongly active in the fields of natural products, nutrition and research and development. In particular, the main goal of the program is the development of meals with high added value, using extracts of Greek flora plants, with a documented beneficial effect on the human body.
In terms of this partnership, plant extracts such as artichoke, dandelion, prickly pear, etc., which are traditionally consumed in Greece, will be developed by Pharmagnose and incorporated into ready-to-eat and/or ready-to-prepare nutritional products by JOTIS company. The extractions will be carried out with green, environmentally friendly techniques, while an attempt will be made to isolate and identify pure compounds from the extracts, based on the high expertise of Pharmagnose. The extracts will be evaluated for their antioxidant activity but also for their bioactivity in in vitro cell models related to liver and bone protection. The main aim of the program is to highlight and promote the benefits of Greek biodiversity and traditionally consumed Mediterranean plants by creating innovative products that meet the demands of the fast pace of modern life.
The funding for the implementation of this Proposal is €739,088.00.
